Christmas songs are great but …

By Matt Emery, written on Nov. 16, 2008

Bad idea

… this seems like a really bad idea. Apparently the Hives and Cyndi Lauper (?) are putting out a Christmas song.

A statement from The Hives:

It may sound weird and come as a surprise to some, but we had to. It came to us. It landed in our lap and was way too good to shake or toss. We knew we had to record it. A sign if you will.

I suppose that’s kind of reasonable. I’m just not exactly sure why Cyndi would choose to team with The Hives for a Christmas song. But she clears it up. Yeah, kind of:

This goes to show even rat sideswipers can have a good Xmas too.

Look for the track to make appearances on the web soon.

I agree about this statement It may sound weird and come as a surprise to some, but we had to. It came to us. It landed in our lap and was way too good to shake or toss. We knew we had to record it. A sign if you will.

My father heard the story of the Menendez brothers. He quit playing the lottery. He said ‘Screw it, I’ve got twelve kids. Any one of them could snap.” (Paul Rodriguez) ;)
